Seattle startup Cloudentity raises $13M to expand identity and authorization tech

Seattle startup Cloudentity announced a $13 million Series A investment round to grow its security software.

The startup helps Fortune 500 companies protect their APIs, users, and services with its “Continuous Contextual Authorization.”

“As enterprises move to the cloud, they are adopting distributed microservices and API-first applications, which present performance and security risks to identity and authorization platforms that are required to safely deploy applications,” Cloudentity co-founder Nathanael Coffing said in a statement.

Coffing helped launch the company with Lukasz Radosz. Cloudentity is led by CEO Jasen Meece, a former managing partner at IBM who previously spent 12 years at Oracle.

ForgePoint Capital led the round, which included participation from WestWave Capital. Sean Cunningham, managing director at ForgePoint, will join the board of directors. Total funding to date is $15 million.
