Did you know Apple has introduced the Find My Network Accessory program for third-party device manufacturers

Apple has revealed the introduction of its 'Find My network' accessory program, which will enable third-party Bluetooth devices to be monitored by using preloaded Find My app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices. The Cupertino behemoth has also released an improved Find My app with a specific Items tab to help consumers find and monitor all of their connected third-party devices. Apple will collaborate with Belkin, Chipolo, and VanMoof to make their new devices ready for the Find My network program.

The Soundform Freedom True Wireless Earbuds from Belkin, the Chipolo One Spot item finder from Chipolo, and the VanMoof S3 and X3 e-bikes from VanMoof would be the first third-party items to operate with Apple's Find My network. Apple, on the other hand, has paved the way for other producers and brands.

Apple stated that accessory developers will enter the Find My network accessory program which is part of the Made for iPhone (MFi) program, to add a new or modified app to the Find My network. According to the business, third-party devices must comply to all of the Find My network's privacy safeguards.

Customers will be allowed to connect licensed devices from the Find My network accessory program to the Find My app's Items page. A "Works with Apple Find My" icon will be available on those devices as well. Apple has also released a draft standard for chipset makers that will enable third-party device makers to use the Ultra Wideband technology used in U1-equipped Apple devices, such as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 series, to provide more accurate, directionally responsive device position tracking while nearby. Later this spring, the draft specification will be published.

With the introduction of the Find My accessory network and the addition of the Items tab to the Find My app, Apple has given its customers the similar opportunity in finding lost third-party accessories as they had previously had in locating missing Apple devices. The Find My app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac allows users to locate their misplaced objects on a map, play a sound to detect their location, and bring them back where they belong. The software also accounts for the showing of a message with the owner's contact information, as well as the remote deletion of data from the missing computer if it falls into the wrong hands.
