You know Apple Has Published A Report On Its Environmental Impact For 2021, While Also Establishing Future Goals For The Company

Apple has recently published its Environmental Progress Report for 2021, highlighting how the company’s products are more climate efficient than ever, and strides it will be taking towards a greener and more carbon neutral Earth by 2030.

The report starts out by boldly exclaiming that Apple is a carbon neutral company, and by 2030, all of its products will be as well. “But how?”, one might venture to ask. Well, as specified right after the opening, Apple’s multifaceted plan towards reducing its carbon footprint involves designing products that can utilize more recycled substances while also consuming less energy for the same level of efficiency; relying on sources of renewable energy such as solar and wind; avoiding the production of further greenhouse gases; and finally, investing in active forest and ecosystem restoration.

Apple’s recently made the rather controversial decision to remove chargers from the packaging of iPhones and Apple Watches. A rather middling to disgruntled reaction was seen across the consumer populace, as most individuals saw this as a flagrant attempt by the company to save their own costs in manufacturing while making sure that customers spent extra in order to purchase chargers. In this report, Apple actively defends this decision of theirs, stating that this very removal of chargers allows the recycling of over 861,000 metric tons of copper, tin, and zinc. The smaller packaging, seeing a 70% decrease, also means that there is less overall wastage in the process.

The report also highlights how data centers running servers for products such as Siri and the iCloud are environment friendly as well. Apple states that these centers now run on 100% renewable, clean energy, further cementing their dedication to a greener world. However, that’s enough talk about current affairs. What does the future hold?

Apple’s already been working to establish clean energy as a main source of fuel for the company, citing solar projects running in Thailand, the Philippines, and South Africa. Now, it intends on further increasing such sources of renewable energy, starting the year with investing in the world’s largest onshore wind turbines in Denmark. The tech giant will also be actively looking into water conservation, reducing usage while also relying on alternate sources such as recycled water, condensation, and rain water as sources.

There’s a lot that needs to be done as far as environmental cleanliness goes. And no matter what, the biggest solutions lie in the hands of Big Tech and Big Energy corporations taking the right steps towards energy conservation.
